Easy to get started

Needed a server for SkyFactory and grabbed one here. The whole process was pretty chill, not complicated at all. Got my server info super fast after paying. My friends and I have been playing without any major hiccups, which is awesome. The control panel wasn't too hard to figure out either. Happy with it.

Smooth experience overall

I ordered a Minecraft Server Hosting package for the Java Edition, intending to run a custom modpack. The ordering process was straightforward, and the Multicraft Control Panel was available instantly. Uploading my modpack files was easy enough via FTP, and the server started right up. I did contact support once about a minor port forwarding question, and they replied within an hour with clear instructions. The server performance has been consistent, no noticeable lag for my group, even with several mods running. The DDoS protection seems to work as intended, had no issues there. It's been a solid experience from start to finish, everything worked pretty much as advertised.

Good value, minor setup glitch

I bought a Premium Minecraft Hosting plan a few weeks ago, specifically for a Paper server. The price was competitive, and the DDoS protection was a big selling point for me. Setup was mostly instant, which was great, but I did have a small issue getting one of my plugins to load initially. Customer support, when I finally reached them through the ticket system, was helpful, though it took a few hours for a response. The server has been running smoothly since then, very stable. I just wish their initial setup process or knowledge base was a bit clearer on common plugin issues.

My server setup took way longer than the 'instant' I was expecting from Anvilnode. Anyone else have this?

G GamerRaj 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
For me, it said instant, but I had to wait for DNS propagation for the subdomain, which isn't really Anvilnode's fault, but still added time before I could connect.

R Rahul 1 month ago
Yeah, subdomain can be tricky sometimes.

R RajatS 1 month ago
Ah, that makes sense. Didn't think of that.

P PoojaR 1 month ago
Yeah, I saw that too when I signed up for a basic Java Edition server. It wasn't instant-instant, more like 15-20 mins. Still pretty quick compared to some other hosts though.

D Deepak91 1 month ago
Mine was like 5 mins for a Bedrock server. Maybe depends on the plan?

Good point. I got a Fabric server, maybe those take a bit more to provision.

I set up a BungeeCord one and that actually felt instant. Logged in right away to Multicraft. No issues.

Must be lucky, mine always takes a bit.

My Anvilnode server renewal price was higher than my initial monthly cost. Is there usually a renewal discount or did I miss something?

A AnjaliP 4 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Yeah, a lot of hosting providers, Anvilnode included, offer a first month discount or a recurring discount that only lasts for a limited time. You probably got one of those. Check your initial invoice; it should specify if it was a promotional rate.

Some companies offer renewal codes if you ask support, but it's not guaranteed.

S Siddharth 4 weeks ago
Ah, that makes sense. It was a pretty good deal when I first signed up. Guess I just got used to it.

I always grab Black Friday deals for my annual renewals. Anvilnode usually has some decent ones then, even for existing customers sometimes. Worth waiting if you can.

Good tip, thanks! My renewal is in September though.

Mine was the same. No recurring discount on my plan after the first three months. It's standard practice.

Thinking of switching my Minecraft server to Anvilnode. Currently with Shockbyte and their support has been hit or miss lately. Anyone made the jump from Shockbyte to Anvilnode for Modpack Hosting?

P PriyaK 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
I did exactly that a few months ago for my Fabric server. Setup was pretty quick, like 15-20 minutes, which was a relief. Support has been way better for me, faster responses and they actually seemed to know what they were talking about with mod configs. The Multicraft panel is standard, but it works.

P PriyaK 1 month ago
Yeah, definitely smoother. We have about 8-10 regular players and it handles our custom Fabric pack fine on a Premium plan.

R RohanS 1 month ago
Was the performance noticeable for your modpack? Shockbyte lagged a lot with more than 5 players.

D Deepak77 1 month ago
I'm still on Shockbyte, but following this thread. My setup time was awful with them.

Same here, took almost an hour.

Haven't switched from Shockbyte directly, but I've been with Anvilnode for about a year for a Pixelmon server. No complaints. DDoS protection is solid, had a few attempts over time and never went down. What kind of modpack are you running?
7
A AmitM 1 month ago
RLCraft is intense. You'd probably want one of their Premium plans for that. Budget might struggle.
7
R RohanS 1 month ago
RLCraft, so it can be pretty demanding. Good to know about the DDoS protection.

Thinking of switching from Shockbyte to Anvilnode for a modpack server (RLcraft specifically). Is Anvilnode better for modpacks, especially for server reliability with high player counts?

S Sneha22 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
Honestly, Anvilnode's support is a big plus. Had an issue with a custom modpack and they were pretty quick to help out. Not sure how Shockbyte's support compares these days.

That's good to know. Support is key for modpacks.

I found Anvilnode's server locations to be better for my player base, which helped with ping. Shockbyte was a bit hit or miss depending on where you are.

They have a few, I picked one in Europe for my friends, worked great.

I've run several modpacks on Anvilnode, including RLcraft. My experience has been pretty good. Their premium hosting plans handle it without much lag for up to 10-15 players. DDoS protection is solid too.

Just their standard premium plan, bumped up the RAM a bit. Worked fine.

Anyone know if Anvilnode usually has Black Friday deals? Thinking about waiting for November if I can save a bit.

S Steve 1 month ago
Oh yeah, they almost always do. I got a pretty sweet recurring discount on Black Friday a couple years back, like 25% off for life of the service. Definitely worth waiting if you're not in a rush.
6
S Sam J. 1 month ago
They definitely have seasonal promos. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are usually good bets for discounts, yeah.

Is Anvilnode better than Shockbyte for a vanilla server with a few friends? Or are they pretty similar in performance?

S Sophie S. 2 months ago
I switched from Shockbyte to Anvilnode a while ago and noticed a definite improvement, especially with latency. Anvilnode also has better DDoS protection built-in, which is a plus.
6
O Omar Nguyen 2 months ago
Hard to say 'better' definitively, but Anvilnode generally gets good reviews for performance and support. I've had a solid experience with them over Shockbyte, especially on larger maps.

How quick is the server setup with these guys? I want to get a new world going tonight if possible.

R Renee Foster 2 months ago
Super quick. Like, practically instant after you pay. I think it took me maybe 5 minutes total to get my server up and running last time.
1
O Omar Whitfield 2 months ago
It's pretty much instant setup. You'll get access to the control panel right away.

Hey, I'm thinking about getting a server from Anvilnode for my modded Minecraft game. Do they actually support all the crazy modpacks out there, like RLCraft or something?

G Gwen 2 months ago
Yeah, they totally do. I've been running a SkyFactory server with them for months, and it's been super stable. Never had an issue with the modpack itself.
2
B Beth Hughes 2 months ago
I've seen RLCraft mentioned on their site specifically, so you should be good. I think they handle most popular ones without a hitch.
